Aspect ratio refers to the relative dimensions of the video screen, with standard aspect ratio for online video or TV being 4:3. Many online video content creators, however, shoot in widescreen formats, the most popular being 16:9.

Personally, if I know I'm shooting for a web site that displays videos as 4:3, I don't see the point in creating widescreen content. I want to use every inch that's available to me!
